Journaling to the Heart Classes are a forum for self discovery, self reflection and learning
The six week class series meets once per week for two hours of writing insight. The setting is a safe comfortable environment, allowing participants the freedom to access and discover their unique selves. The combination of various exercises covered enhance the writing experience and deepen our connection to ourselves.
The History of the Journal
Journal or diary keeping has been around for centuries. The ancient Greeks used the ephides (journal) to track the stars and form the base for astronomy. St. Augustine of Hippo used a journal to log his internal struggle to gain spiritual enlightenment. Ladies of the Japanese court kept "pillow books" hidden away and used the precious pages to record gossip as well as their hopes and dreams. The Victorians thought journal keeping was "high art". Every well born man and woman was expected to keep the journal as a tool for self-examination. Moving right on into modern time, the diary had a resurgance when many a young girl in the 1950's-60's recieved a little book adorned with a tiny lock and key!
Journaling is a time tested way to get to know ourselves, express ourselves and create the lives we desire.

About Mary
Mary created Inspirations to the Heart in order to provide empowerment tools to those individuals and groups seeking ways to better their lives, communities and world.
In order to provide a dynamic that addresses the whole person, Mary has combined the tools of writing, Reiki, soul guidance, intuitive readings, yoga, meditation, guided visualization and more.
Formally educated in English and Journalism, Mary began her career writing. She has published newspaper and magazine articles, poetry and inspirational short stories. Her work is found in several publications around the country. She now teaches others how to write in order to gain insight, awareness and healing.
She began her study in experiental learning and the esoteric arts over 25 years ago while working in the arena of empowerment workshops. She is Master/Teacher Certified in the Usui Method of Natural Healing- Reiki and is an ordained Minister in the non-denominational tradition. 
In 2003, Mary created Journaling to the Heart--originally for parents whose children were undergoing extensive stays in the neonatal intensive care unit at Children's Hospital in Denver. Mary did this as a way to give back to the community of doctors and nurses who worked succesfully to save one of her own children (her third child was born with a congenital heart defect requiring open heart surgery). Note: These dedicated medical professionals worked at USCF Med Center, Boston Children's Hospital and Children's National Medical Center, Washington DC. What was started as a labor of love has grown into intimate forums where writing is used as a tool for self reflection, personal discovery, healing and growth for many. On a personal note, Mary has raised one daughter and four sons. Her middle son, George, the inspiration for Journaling to the Heart is now a healthy twenty one year old college senior.
Mary is passionate about assisting others in claiming their "purpose-full", "soul-full" lives. She strives to provide the most nurturing, safe environment for inner transformation as she assists others with the spiritual interpretation of their lives.

Reiki TherapyWhat is Reiki?
Reiki~meaning life force energy~ is an ancient Tibetan healing art rediscovered in the early 1900's and re-introduced as the Usui Method of Natural Healing. It consists of working with the body's natural energy field (also known as "prana", "Ch'i" or "Ki") to restore order to the body when it has become unbalanced and harmony to the soul.
Reiki often brings deep relaxation, destroys energy blockages, detoxifies the system, and provides vitality.
The client is fully dressed and lays on a comfortable massage table. The Reiki is then administered by light touching of hands and feet, some areas of the head and shoulders, all with the intent of realigning the clients energy centers and energy field (chakras and meridians) to maximum efficiency. Soft music is played and the client may converse or may go into a relaxed state. Whatever is needed at the time.Reiki can also be administered while the client sits or relaxes in a chair.
What are the Benefits of Reiki?
Those who use Reiki regularly often find that they are more joyful and lively. Existing conflicts within the person are broken down, and more energy is allowed to flow throughout all of the bodies systems. This then may effect many areas of a person's life, bringing resolution within the self and with others, allowing more peace of mind, emotional health and spiritual joy.
Reiki therapy is a gift of opening up the self to the vast store of love, knowledge, insight and compassion that is available within each and every one of us each moment of our life.
I encourage all of my clients to come prepared with an intention for the healing session. Anything from, "I need to release stress" to "I need insight and answers on issues pertaining to health, career, or relationship" to "I must know my purpose in life!"
